Global Handwashing Day 2013, 15 December

Global Handwashing Day was originally created for children and schools, but can be celebrated by anyone promoting handwashing with soap. Each year, over 200 million people are involved in celebrations in over 100 countries around the world. Global Handwashing is endorsed by a wide array of governments, international institutions, civil society organizations, NGOs, private companies, and individuals. Similarly, on the occasion of Global Handwashing Day 2013, UNICEF Nepal conducted an exhibition cum competition during which the participants have to demonstrate on handwashing technique for disabled people.

Participating in the competition, BYND2015 Nepal Hub Team Member, Lucky Shrestha and his team from Everest English School stood on the first position. Lucky Shrestha and his team exhibited their idea on demonstrating a tap which is friendly to disabled people. They started collecting the necessary stuffs and spent 48 hrs working on it. After all their hardwork and innovative idea, they were able to delight the judges and the visitors with their tap which was simple in structure with remarkable functions, it was a kind of tap that could be lifted up and down and can be easily used by every wheel chaired as well as normal people.
